Friday evening presentation with dessert bar - 6:30 to 9:00 PM
Saturday class and open knitting from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM with continental breakfast and lunch catered by The Sweet Spot in Whitewater.

Skaite-Maria and her knitting

Welcome to the world of Skaite-Maria, a remarkable Sami lady who lived in northern Sweden over 100 years ago. At this workshop we will discuss Maria's life and knitting as we work together to recreate one of her patterns: either the Out of the Grey mittens or The Red and the Black Mittens. You will need to bring a copy of either pattern, yarn and needles as outlined in the next paragraph.

What to bring:

Out of the Grey pattern
Please bring the Jan/Feb 2017 PieceWork magazine with the pattern, sport weight yarn in a main color and a contrast color, and size US2 needles.

The Red and the Black Pattern
The pattern is available on Ravelry. You will need 2 colors of Cascade 220 or equivalent, and US5 needles. This is knit slightly looser.

Homework:

Swatch to find correct needle size and get gauge according to your chosen pattern.You can cast on in advance on dpn's using long tail cast on as per pattern.
