Jennifer Lindsay;
Center for Knit and Crochet
Have you ever wished you could find a place to share your collection of knitted lace from your great-grandmother, or wanted an easy to access museum to research the pattern for the sweater you got from your great aunt? At the September meeting, we will be introduced to The Center for Knit and Crochet (CKC) a volunteer-led, nonprofit initiative, established right here in Madison in 2012 that is striving to provide a digital collection to preserve the fiber arts.
Jennifer Lindsay, CKC’s president and founding Board member, will share its vision, current projects, and future goals. She will discuss the challenges of developing a digital-only museum and how CKC proposes to address pressing issues of access, interpretation, and preservation. Jennifer is looking forward to MKG members’ questions, and ultimately hopes members will be inspired to work with CKC to initiate a Guild-led effort to preserve and share knit and crochet collections and histories using CKC’s Digital Collections Resource!
