Class description:
  • Basic crochet skills: chaining, slip stitch, single crochet
  • Using crochet for provisional cast-on and simple edgings.
  • Basic crochet techniques for working straight (back-and-forth in rows), working in the round, and changing colors
  • Key to crochet terminology
Skill level: Any level of knitting; no crochet experience required.

Pre-class work: Work 1 or 2 garter stitch swatches at least 4” wide and 4”-6” long, slipping the first stitch of every row. Swatches may be in same color, or contrasting color to class yarn.

Required materials: Aran- or bulky-weight yarn in 1 or 2 colors; knitting needles (any style) in weight suitable for yarn (US 9-11/5.5-8mm); two (2) crochet hooks, where one hook is size suitable for yarn J/10-K/10.5(6-6.5mm) and the other is one size larger
