Program: Wartime Knitting
Speaker: Rebecca Keyel
After a fascinating trip to the Helen Louise Allen Textile Collection at the UW School of Human Ecology with Lucy Neatby this spring, I prevailed upon their staff to prepare a presentation especially for MKG. Rebecca Keyel will offer our membership a talk entitled “Wartime Knitting,” which will be based on her current research on this topic. What an inspiring part of our knitting history! Visit Rebecca's Website!
As an accompanying activity, the Helen Louise Allen collection curator has agreed to offer two private, docent-led, small group tours of selected items from the collection on a sign-up basis to MKG members in the afternoon on Monday, October 9, in conjunction with this presentation. Collection items include a fascinating historic and intercultural selection of knitted items. While we are able to offer this activity at no cost to our members, attendance will be limited to allow access to the collection. Registration is open now!
