This class will review construction of the peasant thumb and several methods for placing a thumb gusset (or gore) in mittens. You will practice inserting a peasant thumb, making a thumb gusset, and picking up stitches to complete a mitten thumb.
Required advance work: Using light colored worsted yarn and US size 5 needle), cast on 36 stitches. Join to work in the round, and work in straight stitch for .75”.

small balls of worsted weight yarn in 3 different light colors
US5 (3.75 mm) needles (bring whatever type of needles you prefer for knitting in the round, 1 set of dpns, 40" circular for magic loop or two circulars)
tapestry needle, stitch markers, scissors and stitch holder (or scrap yarn)
Experience level required: participants must be comfortable knitting in the round, using either double pointed needles, magic loop or two circulars.
