What do you do with all those leftover balls of yarn?

Make a Magic Ball.  Join different colors, textures and fibers together and make a unique ball of yarn for a special project or delightful toy.  All the choices are yours:

  • Bring yarn from your stash or use amazing donated yarn.

  • Choose the colors and textures that please your imagination.

  • Learn the Magic Knot technique for strong but nearly invisible join.

Required advance work:  None

Experience required:  None

Techniques covered:  Magic Knot for joining yarn

Supplies to bring:  Bring a tapestry needle if you want to learn the Russian join.  Bring leftover yarn that you want to turn into a magic ball.  Bring extra oddments of yarn to swap and share. Bring a scale if you have one, it helps to weigh out the yarn to calculate amount needed for patterns. Small shawls (3 S shawl, for example) and hats are excellent projects for a magic ball, check out ravelry for inspiration.

We have donated yarn that can be used to add to the variety.
