Reviewing the Fundamentals

Are you a new knitter or returning to knitting after a hiatus?

Come to “Reviewing the Fundamentals” and discuss common cast ons, how to increase (YO, Kfb and M1 done two different ways) and how to decrease (what do the mean by left leaning or right leaning?). We will review the knitter’s language used in patterns and discuss other fundamentals of knitting: swatching, gauge, provisional cast on and binding off.

What to Bring:

  •  dk or worsted weight yarn (bring two colors, approximately 50g of each)
  • needle appropriate to the yarn
  • needle one size larger then you generally use
  • knitters usual collection of stitchmarkers, scissors, etc.
  • small amount of waste yarn

Required advance work: none

Experience level required: know the knit stitch

Instructor: Kim Langley
