Description: Many knitting patterns include instructions for “fading” from one colorway to the next. Fading is a great way to use up partial balls of yarn, to create unique, beautiful knitwear, and to combine colors that seem to have nothing in common!  These techniques are excellent for newer and sometimes challenging hand-dyes: high-contrast handpaints, speckle-dyes,and very short color repeat space-dyes. This knitting technique is simple & suitable for beginners!

This class will show multiple ways to creatively combine contrasting colorways in garments and accessories! This class provides information, examples, and techniques on striping, striping-in or gradual color shifts, seed stitch and seed-variation fades, and fading in a mitered square, and more.

Techniques taught: slip stitch technique, joining a contrast yarn mid-row (beginning intarsia); working with high-contrast handpainted yarns.

Skill Level: Easy, should know how to cast-on, knit, purl.

Tools Needed: Please bring 3 colors of contrasting fingering weight yarn (small or partial balls fine), double point or straight needles, size 5; circular needles, size 5 or 6; stitch markers and small notions bag with the usual tools.
