Introduction to Brioche

This introductory class will cover single color brioche worked flat.

If time permits, class will be introduced to simple Ear Warmer project using a single color Brioche pattern stitch.

The class will provide students with a solid understanding of the brioche knit stitch and the brioche purl stitch.

Homework:

Using worsted or dk yarn and an appropriate needle, cast on 20 stitches using long tail, German or Italian cast on, leave on needle and bring to class.

Using worsted or dk yarn and needles two or three sizes smaller then what you typically use for yarn (i.e. if using worsted yarn and you would normally use a US8/5mm needle, use a US6/4mm needle), cast on 16 stitches using a provisional cast on, (any provisional cast on you are comfortable with can be used), leaving stitches on needles, bring to class

Note on yarn:  a smooth yarn; wool or cotton, works best. Do not use a novelty yarn.

Materials to Bring to Class:

- extra yarn, worsted or dk

-the usual knitters collection of stitch markers, scissors, etc

-the Homework

Skill Level:

Advanced Beginner: Must be able to knit and purl with ease, slip, knit ribbing and cast on.

Instructor: Kim Langley
