Contemporary shawls build on tradition, yet defy it openly. Shawls are for all genders and all sizes and are limited only by your imagination. Take what you know about traditional shapes and learn to bend, twist and break those shawl recipes. Learn how to manipulate shape for depth, for length and for color and stitch play to start creating unique shawls just for you.

Homework:

  • Become familiar with a few basic shawl shapes (see handout):
    • Rectangle
    • Top-down triangle
    • Sideways triangle

What to Bring:

  • Yarn and needles for trying techniques and making samples
  • Stitch markers (different styles/colors to help separate sections and techniques)
  • Tags or paper to label samples

Class fee: MKG Member = $40, Non-member = $50

Time: 10:00am-12:00pm

*The Madison Knitters' Guild has a no refunds policy.*

COVID Update: The safety and security of our members, speakers, and staff are our most important priorities. We will require everyone to be fully vaccinated (primary series plus boosters as eligible) to attend in-person classes.  Masks will be required for all persons unless presenting to the class. This is our COVID policy as of 7/12/22; it will be updated based on any masking or vaccine requirement changes from city, state, or federal authorities. This policy is based on the CDC guidelines for vaccination status: the CDC recommends COVID-19 primary series vaccines for everyone ages 6 months and older, and COVID-19 boosters for everyone ages 5 years and older, if eligible. You will be required to show proof of vaccination at time of check in and masks will be required throughout the class unless presenting.
