Topic: From Flock to Fiber Artist A WI Sheep & Wool Festival Speaker & Instructor 2023 Ken has raised sheep and been involved in the fiber arts world for most of his life. When his first black lamb was born, the price for colored wool was nothing—literally, he would have to pay others to take it! Instead, he decided to make use of the fiber. Raised in a family of makers, it was not hard to come up with ideas on how to use the wool. But he had to face the fact that the way he was taught wasn’t what was written in books. He decided to follow the old ways and refined the craft by making and using his own products. Now, it's nothing out of the ordinary for him to be dressed in wool clothing while feeding the sheep that provided the fiber. Ken enjoys passing on the ways of past generations, as they passed on to him. He likes to show people that there is more than one way to do certain things, and to stretch the boundaries of what they are capable of doing. He will be teaching at the Wisconsin Sheep and Wool Festival the weekend before the September Guild meeting.
