Get ready for a weekend of exceptional fiber offerings on this year’s safari to the Twin Cities!
Saturday, June 7:
6:45 AM Badger Bus will be ready to board at Dutch Mill Park & Ride and leave promptly
at 7:00 AM.
9:15 AM - Arrive in Viroqua, WI at Ewetopia Fiber Shop where owner Kate Wright and her co-owner and mother Lisa Ashley will welcome us to their wonderful home grown shop. Kate hand-dyes yarns, produces roving and yarn from her own flock and designs her own patterns, all under her exclusive Kate Wright Designs label. The shop also offers specially selected commercial yarns, notions and accessories. Be sure to check out Kate’s wedding gown on display which she designed and hand knit herself! Coffee, tea, scones & muffins from the Viroqua Food Coop will be served.
We will depart Viroqua at 10:30 AM.
1:30 PM - Arrive at The Yarnery in St. Paul, MN which is located in the historic Victoria’s Crossing neighborhood and has been a fiber arts institution for over 40 years. Specializing in the finest natural fibers, this streamlined shop is one of only 12 retailers in the U.S. to stock Brooklyn Tweed yarns as well as their full catalog of patterns. We will shop and enjoy lunch in this charming boutique neighborhood.
We will depart St. Paul at 3:30 PM.
4:00 PM - Arrive in Mahtomedi, MN to discover Lila & Claudine’s Yarn & Gifts which is a whimsical knitter’s funhouse. This shop, owned by sisters Kirsten & Polly and named for their grandmothers, is a visual treat. Beautiful yarns are displayed with irresistible goodies; fun jewelry, cards, bags, decor and more. The lower level has a spacious classroom and lounge area surrounded by shelves of yarn and gorgeous knit samples. Be sure to visit with the life size fiber sculptures of the shop’s namesakes.
We will depart Mahtomedi at 5:30 PM.
6:00 PM - Arrive in Stillwater, MN at Darn. Knit. (Anyway),a hip, contemporary shop with a creative and enthusiastic staff. Owners Aimee & Jennifer and resident artist Carly will happily provide guidance and inspiration for your next great project. Yarn lines include Quince & Co, Madelinetosh, Sweet Georgia and more, add in fabulous buttons, accessories and notions and this shop is sure to awaken your fiber muse. This stop will also be our dinner destination as Stillwater has restaurants galore. Refer to your Discover Downtown Stillwater map for choices.
We will depart Stillwater at 8:30 PM and arrive in Minneapolis at 9:00 PM where the bus will deliver you to your respective hotels.
Sunday, June 8:
9:30 AM - Gather at StevenBe for a festive brunch and unique trunk show. Steven Berg will invite us into his dazzling space, a converted firehouse packed floor to ceiling with the finest yarns and knitting accoutrement. Discover one of a kind hand-spun, custom dyed color ways and endless design possibilities. Steven encourages all fiber aficionados to: "Be inspired. Be brilliant. Be limitless.” and always remember to
“Glam it up!”
